Avocado Banana Date Smoothie with Cashews and Peanut Butter

I made this after a morning run from what I already had in the fridge: avocado, banana, dates, cashews, oats, and some chocolate peanut butter. It took about five minutes and kept me full for a long while without that heavy feeling you sometimes get after eating right after exercise.

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp avocado
  • 3 to 4 slices of banana
  • 2 dates
  • 4 to 5 cashews
  • 1.5 to 2 tsp oats
  • 1 tsp chocolate high-protein peanut butter
  • 1 glass milk around 250ml
  • 1 small tsp sugar optional

Method

Blend Everything Into a Thick Paste First:
  1. Add everything to the blender with just a little milk, enough for the blades to move.
  2. Blend once. The dates probably won't be fully broken down yet, you'll still see bits.
  3. Blend a second time and check with a spoon. No chunks should be left at this point.
Add the Milk and Blend One More Time:
  1. Pour in the rest of the milk and blend until smooth and pourable.
  2. Taste before you add sugar. The dates and banana are already sweet, so try it first without.

Notes

Blend the paste twice before adding the rest of the milk. One blend usually isn't enough to break dates down, and you'll get rubbery bits in the final drink.
